I was way too drunk yesterday to interact, but I'm genuinely curious about what you mean by extreme versatility.

Oh, I mean in that Nostr can be a social network, and a blog, and a Linktree, and Reddit, and so on and so forth
I thought so. but... why would it be bad? I agree with you that the social media part could be a lil less anything and more tied up together, I actually hate any social media per se, by concept, antissocial psycho here. but I love nostr's ecosystem on the other hand, it truly does reinvent internet. curious to know your tots
Oh I didn't mean that Nostr being versatile was bad, just that I don't entirely like the fact that you have no privacy on Nostr
I feel you, though you do have as much as you'd let yourself, no? how would it be any different from mastodon? anyways, I did like your points there
On Mastodon, people like to look through who you're following and who follows you to make flimsy judgments about you, but you can hide that, and nobody can force it to be open to the public but yourself. People also can't log into a read-only version of your Mastodon account and read through your notifications, bookmarks, and so on. Despite the really great things I've discovered on Nostr, this kind of remains a strange feature that could easily be turned off if you could put a password on your public key.
agreed. metadata is an issue here. 0xchat solves part of it, yet another app you have to install. we're so early, on the other hand. not even two years, and now we'll finally have inbuilt wallets gracias a Pablo. pieces will fall into place, IMO. mastodon was great, but... too many rules and censorship and centralization (not as much as bluesky, but enough). and, after all, just another social network. trust the plan, sis <3 I have no idea which plan, but it's here. as david foster wallace's fish would say: this is water.
