#[0] what if relays integrate "note budget" that resets every month.

Let's say each note "costs" 100 sats, and you post on average 100 posts per month, 100 x 100 , you have to deposit 10,000 sats on relay . This balance is given back to you every first of month to be reused .

That deposit quota could be non refundable, as way to support a relay but the budget is kept for you forever.

You could increase your budget by adding more sats, in order to post more than 100 notes.

Rationale: further preventing bots

Interesting. At first I kinda like the idea.🧐

thanks!

This is similar to pay to enter on a relay, however adds a twist to it, more active user needs to deposit more and less well less.

There could be minimum entry fee,as it's now.

Only notes with text are counted, likes - boosts etc aren't part of the budget.

I think this should be implemented on relay level and not on protocol level. Individual relay's will choose which model will they use.

Yes, individual relay - optional of course.

I think bots will be less of an issue by design here. There is no algo putting their crap into my feed. They have to build followers the hard way by commenting quality on bigger accounts. All the bots boosting other bots to fake engagement games don't work here.

sure I agree, just an ideas an add-on to paid relays, this helps with payment scheme too. Active users pay bit more to use (one time fee budget).

They will come. There has to be a cost to noting.

One-time license fees of 10K SAT per relay service. You want more, you pay more.

I like it.

It’s ultimately heading that way I assume.

It's actually already implemented pay to enter, but I thought of adding another layer to it of note budget.

Yes, please, this is great and someone should do it.

One immediate use case for this is clients like habla.news or blogstack.io that give you the option of filtering very easily by relay, so you could just see posts from people who paid a lot as a way to filter out noise.

#[1] what do you think?

It’s not a bad idea. And if I’m not mistaken it’s actually how Nostream integration with ZBD works. It’s just not yet debiting the users balance when they make posts. Cc #[3]

Yeah, Nostream is keeping a balance but it’s not being debited yet. TBD
