Six weeks ago, Duke got mauled by another dog. He ended up with 40 staples and who knows how many internal stitches. We thought the little turd was gonna die.

Today, he's back to normal and even the scar is fading. Animals are tougher than people, y'all. This little guy is indestructible. The only lasting effect appears to be that his nipples are now crooked. That doesn't seem to be hurting his self-esteem.

Dogs are definitely stronger than people. Some years ago, we had a Samoyed who we got fixed when she went into heat. We then realized we had scheduled climbing a forteener (mountain over 14,000 feet in Colorado) the following weekend. We really wanted to do the hike and decided to try figuring we could carry her down if we had to. She ran around enough to climb the mountain 3 times. We kept fighting over who got to hold the leash for our Alaskan Malamute because he would help pull us up the mountain.

Every female dog I've had that we had spayed, the vet always warns about keeping activity level low, not letting her jump, etc. By two or three days, they're always acting like nothing happened and it's all but impossible to keep them from resuming normal activity. Dogs are badasses. 😉
