Uploading our long formatted videos to YouTube and then having to share them to Nostr sucks. It doesn't feel like we're escaping those that have ruined our social experience when we do this. It would be great if we had a Nostr alternative. πππ

100%! As I understand it YouTube is subsidized by google, so hard to compete with such big files
A nostr version would need to be clever and maybe incentivize storage somehowβ¦
I think mp3s are a better choice.
The file size is much smaller and you can host them cheaply.
Unless you absolutely need video, mp3 is the way to go.
You can host a lot of your mp3s on centralized services like google drive and link them here. You get the benefit of using their bandwidth for free, without them getting any ad revenue.
