I harvested potatoes yesterday but it’s my first time.. they are very irregular any so many eyes. Did I wait too late?? Or what.

Maybe, I see it on some of mine. Did you mound your potatos up as the grew?

I did not. Stuck them and forgot them… maybe I should.

Added 4inches of compost after about 5weeks seems to be a good haul

I'm curious did you use grocery store potatoes or seed potatoes from garden center?

From slips from store bought. Might that be the issue?

I learned to garden from my grandparents. They would buy seed potatoes and cut them into chunks making sure their was an eye on each piece. They said if you use last years they will be deformed.
