First poly science class as an undergrad, the Prof defined politics as “Who gets what, when and how.”

It is a great definition because it applies equally to international relations, corporate relations, community relations, or family relationships.

The difference between international and family relationships is only one in scale and complexity (international) vs. complicated (family).

Pet peeve is when I hear some say they are “just playing politics.” Each of us play politics ever day whether it is siblings vying for the last Eggo waffle (should be called Ego Waffles 😂) or a politician looking to steer funding to his district.

Thank you bitjoon@nostrplebs.com. I agree with your sentiments. I am grappling with the layers of complexity among actors and what can possibly emerge. My general understanding of complexity theory is that agency in relationships establish some sort of stable complexity until there emerges a new entity with agency of its own. Although I am familiar with their effects, I haven’t yet been able to grasp the agency of a ‘family’ or ‘corporate entity’. Can you share your thought on agency and agent with regard to relationships?
