it's better to have politicians wooing Bitcoiners at the conference than trying to criminalize every piece of the industry but people can't see past their politics

Sometimes I wonder what is better... If true colors and intentions were shown, perhaps more would wake up and take action.
They personally and through their companies own BTC. This is Bitcoin working its way in and aligning their incentives with ours
True, however the current control system (including politicians) will try to sideline and control Bitcoin in a sly and gradual way as they did gold... Push the masses into proxies and keep Bitcoin as a store of value and settlement medium for corporations and nation states (also corporations). The proxies then can be manipulated.
My point was only that I agree people should look past the politics and see there is more going on here. The politician's are interested in Bitcoin for other reasons.
As long as we hold our own keys, run nodes, and use Bitcoin as a medium of exchange it will cut through all that. Then those politicians will be forced to capitulate.
