I use it as a media server but I think you can do a lot more with it🤷🏽

Basically an old laptop I don't use anymore, I take all my DVDs and physical media and rip them to my hard drive. Then with plex as long as I have the plex app and sign in, I can be on vacation in another country and stream movies or music from my computer at home🤷🏽

Thanks, I might check it out. Guessing the server needs a pretty hefty hard drive. Any recommendations? Do you use RAID for handling failures?

I literally took my old laptop and deleted everything from it since I have a new desktop anyway🤷🏽 and I put everything in there.

I'm a millennial. So I'm technically tech savvy. Read: I read the instructions and turn things on and off and it impresses elderly relatives asking for help.

So no I don't think you need to do any of that if you don't have the equipment or know how🤷🏽

But I imagine you can beef it up and make it more stable. 🤷🏽
