Cult of the Dead Cow, a renowned group of #technology #activists, is developing #Veilid, a #coding #framework which enables the creation of messaging and social networking #apps that do not retain users' personal data. Veilid incorporates strong #encryption and aims to provide a foundation for apps without data harvesting, #secured by end-to-end encryption. The project is set to be detailed at the #DefCon hacking conference. Veilid faces challenges in persuading programmers to develop compatible apps and limited revenue streams due to the inability to collect detailed user information for targeted advertising. However, it arrives at a time of discontent with existing social networks and opposition to government encryption regulations.
