84 percent of our respondents believe that there are people who don't express their opinions because they fear the consequences. Only one in eleven (9 percent) disagrees. Agreement with this question, which also goes a long way toward revealing how many people view freedom of expression, is very high regardless of sociodemographic characteristics. And even when comparing party supporters, there are clear majorities everywhere: ranging from 77 percent among voters of Alliance 90/The Greens to 92 percent among voters of the AfD.
