Reminds me of the reasons I hated being a web developer. Things have gotten a lot worse since then. Lol

nice doc.

"Didn't even know HTML could do this, huh? Suck it"

To be fair, I think some of the functionality is newer in HTML. But there is still a valid point for using the tools already there and replacing unnecessary technical bloat over time.

Needs more Samuel L. Jackson.

😂

These sort of articles don't make any sense because there are websites and there are web apps. The web is the easiest platform to build on and has the largest percentage of devs working with it so obviously there is always going to be extremes. That doesn't mean you can build certain types of web app with just HTML.

The web of today is much more capable of the web 30 years ago. You don't need anyone's permission to build or release stuff.

Building for the web didn't get worse. It provided more options. IMO, it is a lot more fun building for the web than on any other platform regardless of the perceived complexity.

1. I think there was some missed satire.

2. The point isn't to not use modern tools. The point is to use what is already there instead of adding technical overhead for no reason.

3. Nothing like this is ever going to apply to every person and every project ever, so that may be why you don't get them.

I worked on real websites. What you're saying sounds wonderful, but the reality hardly ever aligned with that. People are generally lazy and careless. I've seen megabytes worth of imports for something could have been done from scratch very quickly for a small fraction of the overhead.

It isn't that these tools have no place. They're just too often abused and used as crutches. This tends to lead to security issues and abnoxious wastes of time and computing resources.
