Being a parent is great! But also challenging. Frightening. Tiring. No one has ever pushed me to my limits with such regularity as my kids. What have I not learned. Over the years, I have dealt with topics that I never even thought about before (starting with the Archaeopteryx, to classifying all insects, no not arachnids, they were never very popular, to the way of life of knights, pirates and Vikings). I learned to lose in all board and card games (and still do today). I learned to read aloud (and fell in love with children's literatureš„¹). I helped create Lego and Playmobil worlds and had painful moments walking through the kid's rooms when I kept missing one of the tiny pieces. I've trembled at hospital beds (just yesterday and again today). Endured three school careers with the kids. Welcomed friends, accompanied friendships. Dried tears. Overcoming my two left hands while doing handicrafts...
I could go on and on.
Yes, having kids is great.
