If I may allow myself an indulgence. I have been drinking in a bar opposite my dad's apartment. It is known as "The Russian Bar". I have travelled to Russia, St Petersburg and only know one or two phrases. One being "Szsveba", which is thank you. I exercised this phrase, last night. the Russian girl, behind the bar, looked impressed👌🏻, all good.

I returned to the very same bar this evening, I asked for "One beer", in English and she gave me my change, I once again, thanked her, in The Russian "Svazeba", she had an enigmatic smile on her face and I informed her that I was the stupid fucking Englishaman who knows how to say Thank You in Russian from the night previois🙏🏻. She laughed.

We now, fast forward to this evening. We are, in the same bar, me and my son. I again "Svazeba" her on receipt of my beer. She recognises me (As the stupid fucking Englishman who thinks he can speak Russian. All good🙏🏻).

While drinking the pint I was currently drinking, I THEN remember how to order a pint IN RUSSIAN. I hurriedly race back to the bar, to the Russain and ask for "Odno Pevo" (One beer) she's now that convinced that I speak fluent Russian, I don't🤷🏻‍♂️, that she just said "Estrella"? (The local beer). I just said "Yes please". The moment was ruined🙄😔😂.
