Hieromartyr Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium, stood firm in his faith when Emperor Maximian demanded he offer sacrifice to idols. Refusing, Irineu was imprisoned. When questioned again, he declared Christ as his only King. After torture, he was sentenced to death. As he was led to the Sava River, he prayed for the people, converting those who witnessed his steadfast faith. He was beheaded in 304 AD. May his prayers strengthen our resolve in the face of adversity.
