People keep saying that scalability and privacy should come in layers. Reality is that after 15 years, there's only 1 real layer on top of the base one and it's riddled with issues and limitations on UX, custody, liquidity, fees, security, statefulness and privacy.
Meanwhile, there's no 3rd layer in sight, only a bunch of upcoming L2s with even more questionable trade-offs.
Believing that "layers on top of layers" fix everything is looking like a hard sell.
You're trapped in layer land. It is a useful abstraction for a few ideas but ultimately it limits your thinking.
