If the only aversion to a full sync is to the time, just do it. Once it’s done you’ll be glad you did.

Realize that you can do the sync at one location (with a fast connection) and then move to your normal/preferred location. Even just using an Ethernet connection to your router instead of wifi makes a big difference.
