In an effort to get back into computing, I've setup a #BenQ display that was specially made for eye strain and coding.

One of the big reasons I retired was that writing software all week was destroying my health: neck pain, too much sitting, blue lights, eye strain, too much coffee, alcohol, and more.

Setting up an office at my citadel with the goal of creating a more health conscious environment is an important milestone if I'm to enjoy spending hours at a desktop again.

I got nerd neck from working at a desk for 10 years.

Same. A bunch if posture work helped me reverse it. Starting Strength helped me stop the pain, which went on for nearly a decade. Agony.

Get nerd neck, go to therapy on work for it, slip a disk & pinched a nerve raising my arms after that.

Quit my job lol

What kind of black magic IS this!?

Haha I know. I want to get one for an outdoor office set up.

Work in the sunlight like nature intended.

Beautiful.

Maybe I'll setup a cart so I can roll it to the pool.

Excellent idea

If you make it happen post some pics.

Ser just get blue light blocking glasses. I wear amber-tinted ones all day at work and orange/red-tinted ones after sunset indoors.

That Harvard study he raised that claims blue light is not harmful to the retina is bullshit

I’ll add it’s more convenient and cost effective for me to implement while I don’t need prescription glasses or readers.

Also Windows 10&11 have built in blue light adjusters (called Night light) that get very orange/red at max settings

Blue blockers all day for 2x better sleep

There is more going on with eye strain when viewing a computer screen all day. Brightness, blue light, flickering, monitor height and size all contribute to computer derived eye problems.

Yeah probably those other aspects are nonzero factors. I watched the video too. Is that your main source for these claims? I’m deferring to neurobiologists directly for my take vs a monitor-OEM-sponsored software developer.

I’m pretty confident that light spectrum frequency is the biggest fish to fry

I've been using the monitor for a week and have no eye strain. Compared with 15 years of it.

I'm not sponsored gaylord. 😂

What's your favorite amber glasses?

I bought the shittiest ones off Amazon and a higher end pair they both work (better sleep noticeable). I think it’s pretty hard to screw up.

The one mistake I made was getting the “night” shaded ones which where too dark for computer work. But good for after sunset inside.

They also succeed in making you look like super gay, no way around it, compensate with more firearms training.

I’m trying to compensate with bigger muscles 😂 but fr, fuck what the chronic-disease-prone people think.

I use my computer with my night ones just fine. They’re thin-framed aviators and don’t look too bad

I’m referring to the YouTuber being sponsored 🤨😂

I haven’t tested or researched enough glasses to know my favorite. But I like my amber lenses from felixgray.com

raoptics.com makes solid products too.

My red ones are from boncharge.com
