I am hearing something about an add-on called Alby. Anyone got any more info what that is used for in relation to nostr?

I use them to get a lightning address (davesmith@getalby.com) and wallet to receive payments on Nostr. With the browser plug-in you can also use it to login and sign Nostr message on Nostr web clients which is better that pasting your private key into these websites

Forgot to mention, it is a custodial wallet so only use it for pocket change

yeah we won't get rich from zaps, and even if we did, we could withdraw 10k sats at a time!
