Yeah, I saw that it's very interesting but all everyday users can't host their servers just to have a reliable experience. It would be nice if clients provide that as a one-click paid service. Even a subscription-based model would be nice.

yeah, not necessary but definitely convenient for new users who just have to check the one extra box while setting up their profile & It will also be a nice way for clients to monetize which they have to do sooner or later.
I agree that a bundled experience has a better UX, let's ask to all the WhatsApp users that try to move between Android and IOS. But a relay is probably excessive as basic backup solution, a client can simply export a JSON blob with all the events or offer to encrypt and upload it somewhere. Of course the "where" can be offered by the client too, with a full integrated procedure.

💯 Agree with what you just said, bottom line is we undoubtedly need a good & easy backup solution for a reliable experience. It will be a great opportunity for clients to monetize & users should also have other options.
