Japan's ruling coalition has lost its parliamentary majority in a surprise defeat, marking the worst election result for the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in 15 years. The LDP and junior coalition partner Komeito took 209 seats, down from 279 previously held. The main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CDPJ) emerged as the biggest winner with 143 seats. The outcome may lead to fractious power-sharing deals and political instability, complicating the country's economic challenges and security situation.
