Of course they do. Those are the tools that work, and these people operate in an extreme environment where their liberty, lifestyle and profits are on the line if the tools are not as good as they think.
That is a legitimate claim grounded in empirical fact. But that is very different than what the Statist authoritarians put out there, which goes more like "only criminals use such tools and their access must be restricted or the effectiveness of the tools somehow compromised".
And that is about as smart as saying we should ban knives because some people like to go on stabbing sprees every so often.
