Would everybody be ok with me adding some anonymous usage tracking to Snort?

Its hard to tell if the features im releasing and maintaining are actually being used or which need more work

He said *anonymous*.

Are you really trusting nostr:npub1v0lxxxxutpvrelsksy8cdhgfux9l6a42hsj2qzquu2zk7vc9qnkszrqj49 by using his app but not being available to help him with some anonymous data? Really?

And growing...

I don't like being tracked on the internet either. But in this case, I voted positively because "anonymous" statistics will benefit the users. By the way, the results are very close to each other right now.

There should be an option, "see results"

Maybe if you paid sats for the data

Devs paying to make their free apps better, now that's innovation 😅

'Ethical Analytics' would be a worthwhile topic at the Sovereign Engineering event in Madeira IMO.

Surely we can do better than Surveillance capitalism now that we have the ability for direct renumeration of value.

Personally I do NOT want to decend to 'transparency' the way Google, Apple etc does it by tricking people to push 'Agree' to small print legalese.

Could opt-in, opensource, anonymous analytics be a middle way for now? Default being OFF? Or do you guys think that's a slippery slope?

Yes, but make it optional. And maybe even add an incentive, like some kind of extra benefit, for those who opt in. Make it a win-win.

And to be clear since people assume I'm talking about using GA or something similar, I'm not. I already use Plausible self hosted for other stuff.
