If you make use of the Umbrel node this is already possible. The only thing you need to configure for this is your public key. Nostr relay umbrel app.

Sure, but I want the backup on the phone itself. Most users don't have a computer. They have to do everything in the phone.
Add an umbrel server to the phone?
Do they offer a phone app to run their stuff?
No, but it's theoretically possible with a ubuntu virtual machine. I know a few people have gotten it working to run the full bitcoin node with a large sd card.
I think I'm going to have to test this now ☺️
Nice! Let us know how this goes
I think I may have gotten it. Using this reply to see if it gets written to the relay...
So, I couldn't get umbrel to work, but I did get a nostr-rs-relay going using an Ubuntu install. It's messy, and I know there has to be an easier way, but proof of concept wise it's technically possible to run a relay on your phone.
What did you use to make this work? Termux?
Yes, Andronix and Termux.
still messing with it a bit nostr-relay was easier to install. https://code.pobblelabs.org/fossil/nostr_relay/index
It lacks the nice status webpage that nostr-rs-relay has, but I couldn't actually get that to work.
Is nostr is absolutely private? I mean to say if I post a private message, will my IP address be recorded in the relay server? I mean to say that if the identity of the sender be identified by his IP address?
No, nostr is not pivate. your ip will be recorded. use a vpn for privacy.
I thought it is not recorded per definition in the relays. It can be recorded however. But most ips holds not your exact location so I don't care.
