A future with lightning network, liquid and Fedimint as the only scaling layers is a dead bitcoin. It’s not bitcoin at all. It’s custodian-2-custodian ecash.
Bitcoin was suppose to remove the middlemen and custodians.
Decentralization and custody are two separate things.

I think Fedimint is a pretty cool idea btw. It could work in certain situations.
I think sidechain scaling fixes a lot the problems fedimint is trying to save though.
