Because there is no algorithm, Nostr provides no incentive to engage with posts. Interesting problem to solve...? Solutions?

I think getting a zap can be a pretty good incentive to try to provide some value. What do you think?
Yeah, maybe. I think that is the main idea. It doesn't do anything for increasing visibility of a post. Which leads to the question, what happens if / when Nostr grows to have more users. How will exposure to new users be driven?
