Good question. Another is why is Google's default to use Kotlin instead of Dart.

JetBrains has forked Compose to add desktop features similar to Flutter.

Flutter seems more cross-platform OOTB. Ubuntu wrote their new installer in Flutter.

For now, I'm sticking with flutter. Interested to see if someone smarter than me hops in this thread and clears it up.
