I grew up not far from there, at least alphabetically, just over the border in Nottinghamshire in a town called Retford.

Apropos nothing much at all, it would be around this time that Phil Neale was playing for Lincoln City. He was the last player to play football and cricket professionally at the same time. Eddie Helmsley(?) also played both around this time, football for Sheffield United, can remember who he played cricket for but he must have retired before Neale. I wonder why I remember these things??
