I know what you mean. I was just marveling at the fact that God only creates beings. Machines are uniquely soulless things that mankind artifices to manipulate reality.

Also, I don't think you meant to be reductive but St. Thomas Aquinas states that "the intellectual soul is united by its very being to the body as a form", basically saying that the body is not just a machine the soul inhabits.

Also according to Aquinas, all living things technically have souls, but plants and animals don't have immortal souls.
