I think someone like Snowden should be the standard for whether Nostr is ready or not. At least if the decentralized, censorship resistant marketing is going to stick around.
A simple client that works well with mainstream privacy/security tools is a must.
I love Nostr. It's cool and it's getting better. But it's a playground right now. I don't think it's ready for people who face death as a consequence for using social media.
I don't even think it's ready for the average user of traditional social media. We can circle jerk and pretend, or we can admit that it's super new and we are early.
It's okay that it isn't ready and pretending otherwise isn't helpful. It may be ready for your needs and expectations, but that isn't necessarily true for others.
Snowden leaving is a pretty big sign that it isn't ready in my opinion. He is THE case study and it doesn't seem to matter to a lot of people.
