We're not "saving the west" when we're saving Israel. In fact we're doing the opposite. By engaging in another easily preventable for-profit war we're perpetuating the very thing that is destroying the West. Israel had more than 60 years to to shape its relationships with its neighbours but they fucked it up thinking the pax Americana would last for ever. Now that, after Afghanistan and Ukraine, the sharks smelled blood in the water, Netanyahu just keeps doing dumb things. Sooner or later Israels destiny won't be a matter of western public opinion, which they play masterfully, but a function of their immediate surroundings. Time to make friends is running out.
