I don't know any details on the divorce, but is there any chance he divorced his wife to protect his family once he realized how hard they were going after him? Just a thought.

I don't know. I've seen other men persecuted for speaking out and... Sadly, many women break under the stress and just want to get away from the negativity.
I don't necessarily believe that is what happened, but I like to attribute good to a good man like that. It could be a little bit of both: she was unhappy with his continued stance leading to discomfort for them all and he wanted to protect his family.
It is a good thing to think well of people. 😁
