I have very few apps on my phone because WeChat meets most of my needs. So I deeply understand that super apps are more likely to be favored by people.
Did people like when Instagram added shorts? People hated it over here. Same when YouTube and LinkedIn added them.
In my opinion, Instagram and YouTube aren’t really super apps. They just have a lot of users. Some Chinese super apps, on the other hand, cater to all your daily needs—messaging, payments, shopping, food delivery, ride-hailing...
they don't like or hate it, just accept it as nice to have feature. In my country, shorts on instagram and youtube are a things and gain a lot of fraction.
I find the people who hate the features are those who just casually use the app or don't like change. People who live in the apps around me seem to really love it and the other people who said they've hated eventually tell me a story of how they can't stop watching shorts.
