this is also the convention in most of eastern europe as well, very often people have little shelves around the front entry to place your dirty outdoor shoes and a basket full of slipper type shoes (for the cold)

i personally prefer to walk around inside with at most socks but if i was standing a lot i'd probably get spongey mats for those areas, like in front of workbenches and such, and for safety in an area where i might drop heavy things on my feet i'd want to wear shoes too

I have indoor slippers as well, but the foot support of the shoes has been better for me

ah... well, i wear barefoot shoes almost all the time... they are not much different to standing straight on the ground... but it takes a while to get used to it... i recommend it though, it's better for your body

I read Born to Run a long time ago, and I’m always more pro-minimalist shoes when I am running. In that regard it is almost better I am running in worn out shoes, and not these cushy indoor shoes.
