My take is that exempting silicon makes sense. We don't have the manufacturers anywhere else on earth.
Even Taiwan only works on much smaller NM processes. They don't make the chips that we use in basically everything.
This will still hurt china. They have exports in LITERALLY EVERYTHING.
Being dependent on fundamental tech from an hostile country can be check but is not smart for sure. China is a communist dictatorship, not a free republic. They pretend to smile buy they enslave their own people and control their population as in a jail. We cannot lose a war against them. If we lose it it's the end of all.
