"Critics are correct that there is no ironclad guarantee that every piece of data will always be available. Unlike bitcoin where data permanence is baked into the system at a steep cost, nostr does not promise that every random note or meme will be preserved forever. That said, in practice, any data perceived as valuable by someone will likely be stored and distributed by multiple entities. If something matters to someone, they will keep a signed copy."

Nostr embraces the natural flow of information. What’s valuable gets replicated, what’s not fades away. It’s not about forcing permanence but letting the network decide what matters. The best ideas, notes, and memes will survive because people want them to, not because they have to.
