Peace of mind is underrated. Sometimes it's cheaper to just buy a solution than it is to change yourself. And you run the risk of changing something that has served you in more valuable ways. I guess the great human challenge is balancing such traits within ourselves.

Indeed. In addition to meditation and mindfulness practice, I’m a firm believer in setting up my environment—and having a few mental “bypass switches” I have conditioned over time—to help steer around certain natural tendencies when they’re not serving me (ADHD, OCD, insomnia, patience, etc.). Sometimes, it’s just easier and more effective to work with what I’ve got, rather than trying to change something that actually benefits me in other ways.
