I have a question about the "tracking" issue.

I looked up the google font page. Google does say that they "need to know ip address of the user" to distribute the contents of a particular website requested (my paraphrase).

If I understand how the internet works, this is sort of understandable. Not that I defend Mr. G.

The problem will be how they use the collected data (profiling or selling etc),

So, any service provider need to track ip addresses to distribute contents, right?

What is the boundary between the acceptable tracking and excess tracking? How do people determine that boundary?

I am not tech savvy just trying to learn here.

I don't if it can help or it's correlated but that's why I use Opera Browser + two extensions: Privacy Badger and Ublock, to previne and mitigated tracking of my daily using in the internet.

Oh I have Ublock on my firefox but not on my other browsers.

Good reminder thank you.
