Ok. I’m just going to say it out loud.

Nearly ALL of the major policies Trump wanted to enact would have prevented nearly ALL of the crap we are dealing with now.

I still think he is an asshole. But he’s an asshole with some very good policy ideas. So there that is.

Still… why has the State and the Executive Branch become this powerful, barely resembling the Federated, minimalist Constitutional republic it was intended to be? now we have to deal with these power structures which are embedded like ticks on a deer hide..

Agree. Unfortunately what happens in the US affects the Western world and smaller countries that follow its example.

I note reading at the time the Taiwan public preferred Trump which was different from most of the Asian countries, but then again Taiwan has a constitution probably most similar to the US out of all the Asian countries.

To the point, my view is the US people have become more socialist in nature over the past hundred years and socialism prefers centralized decision making, so in particular the Democrats have worked towards this goal, watering down obstruction wherever possible, including downplaying the constitution.

Perhaps even illegal immigration plays a part, by bringing in people from all over the world that typically have a socialist mindset, as opposed a capitalist mindset.
