Russia's army is fighting a major Ukrainian border incursion for the third day running, Moscow says, with independent analysts saying Kyiv's troops had advanced up to 10 kilometres (six miles) into Russia.

πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ί πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ Pro-Kyiv forces stormed into Russia's southwestern Kursk region on Tuesday morning, deploying around 1,000 troops and more than two dozen armoured vehicles and tanks, according to the Russian army.

It appears to be the most significant of several cross-border attacks mounted by Ukraine since Russia launched its full-scale military offensive in February 2022.

Russia's defence ministry said on Thursday its troops were _"continuing to destroy"_ armed Ukrainian units and were using air strikes, rocket and artillery fire to try to push them back.

Kyiv has not taken responsibility for the operation*, but an *aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Moscow was to blame for the incursion.

Advanced into Russia, or reclaimed Ukrainian territory? Not arguing either way, just curious

No the advance was in Russian pre war territory, Ukrainian land still occupied by Russian invaders

Thank you!

Well this area once belonged to Ukraine, so according to Russia this incursion is legitimate

The area of the incursion is above sumy, new front

Yes but I mean Russia claims their attempted annexation of Ukrainian territory is legitimate because "it historical belonged to Russia", Ukraine however can pull the same card since several parts of Russia once belonged to them

πŸ€™ ohhhh yeah you're actually right
