Football is a great passion of mine, and I tried explaining to my friends countless times how the up and coming Super League plans which were heavily contested and scrapped were bound to happen, when you look at it from a money perspective then why wouldn’t it? What are the biggest club supposed to do? Continue to bail out the lower leagues for their survival? At some point the leagues will break down due to the smaller clubs being unable to keep up with financial demands and inflation.

Football is dying. Another disease driven by our broken system.

I think that, as you said, this was always the path. Increased centralization of ownership and capital accumulation at the top.

There’s still deep beauty in the game and it will prevail due to how deeply woven into the fabric of grassroots communities
