I honestly don't see a "suddenly" moment coming in the next one or two decades.
My take on this: Cycles will stay and with each one of them several months of congestions. They will be the bottlenecks for further adoption. Until devs figure out a new scaling solution which enables the next one or two cycles' adoption.
