This is totally awesome; a fantastic, beautiful, challenging exercise in symmetry and topology.

It's a real brain-bender, or at least it was for me. I had to slow the video down to quarter speed to follow the last few steps.

I think I'll make our Christmas cards using this pattern!💖😆

when i was a kid we had these ones people made that are like a cross and you hold them between 4 fingers (usually thumb and 3) and on the hidden faces was some message and there was this procedure for selecting them, sorta like a random generation thing, like the "pick which hand" game

I'm making progress on my Christmas card and letter design...

(see the end of this message for the video that inspired me)...

Folded, the card is just over 3.6" square, featuring a manger scene.

The obverse side prompts you to open it.😃

As each petal opens, a Christmas scripture is progressively revealed.

Finally, by pulling apart opposite edges of the revealed Christmas tree, the card expands to its full 11-inch square area, and the personal Christmas letter (as yet to be written) can be read.😃

Fun and challenging, and I still have proof of work needed to complete this project on time; wish me luck!🙏🏻😁
