I've always enjoyed his historical docos, I haven't seen much of his current commentary.
He found a niche during covid times by speaking eloquently about what we could see happening in front of us. If you send a letter to "the king of Scotland, Stirling", it'd reach him...kind of a running joke where people started addressing letters to him in all sorts of mad ways
