I have the complete opposite view. Likes are far more informative than 'zaps' (which are a stupid gimmick).

When you are talking to someone and they make a good point you just say something like that (e.g "Good point"). You don't pull out yr wallet and hand them a dollar bill.

Likes is what brought us twitter and facebook. Cheap actions like that don't mean anything.

You can't compare it to real life as IRL there is no way to give say 'good point' to 1 million people in 1 second. If you could you'd be able to run for president

No, centralised, server farm networks supported by advertising revenue is what brought us Twitter and Facebook.

"Talk is cheap" is usually meant as a bit of a sneer but it's also something that needs to be kept true. It should be cosrless to engage in discourse. Injecting money into conversations is crass, and is a 'borrow' from the USA's revolting tipping culture.

Zapping incentivises ppl saying things to please audiences and will bring us all sorts of loathsome 'infuencers'.
