Unless quantum computing breaks bitcoin and people dont notice for a while. If it goes unnoticed for a few weeks a lot of trouble and lost faith will occur.
It would be preferable to implement protections before vulnerability is exposed.

Any new tech will be rolled into ₿itcoin, including quantum computing. It’s an arms race.
Well, we must assume quantum computers will be in the hands of incredibly powerful or rich people for a while. We wont be able to use QC for defense until prices become affordable for more people.
Better resistance to QC should be prioritized imo
