You should totally come back to finish it. This is actually my very first FS game, so I've been trying to experience it like a lone wolf, with minimal research. Coming from many years of playing TES games, I definitely felt that sense of emptiness at first. But once you start reading and paying attention to the vast hidden details this game has to offer, my experience changed a lot, and I became completely immersed.
If it's your first then you need to go back & play the others first before elden ring for you to understand why I feel that way. I'm a huge fan of TES played 1 2 3 4 5 & online. As big as elden ring's open world is theres many big areas you just ride through with nothing going on which is why they came out with shadows of the erdtree to fill in some spots & add more area which I have not seen the game since the dlc dropped. Maybe it's more densed up with enemies roaming.
I'll definitely check them out! Always great to meet a TES fan. What's your favorite? I haven't gotten into ER's DLC yet, as I'm only a few quests away from finishing the base game (I think).
