Yes, I use deliberately provocative language, to the extent it's kind of not true (you don't want to *blatantly* treat others as cogs in the machine, to their face), but it's a principle that's quite central in western civilization. Consider "nepotism" at one extreme, and consider ideas like "rule of law vs rule of man". Justice being blind etc.
