I've watched it years after its release because I hated how popular it was back in 1999. It's important to understand that The Matrix is also propaganda. The fact that it was released by the same people responsible for brainwashing the public for over a century might be a red flag to anyone paying attention. But hey, it's important to create enemies outside of yourself. The interpretation I like best is that you are the whole matrix.
