It's a story with a lot of truth behind it but doesn't necessarily need to be "reality".

Just like all the tropes about Bitcoin - the idea is very powerful and true, but the physical reality of it is more flawed, and you're never going to gain anything by living with that in mind.

The core ideas are intuitively true and valuable, so only get caught up in the details if that is necessary. For most people it isn't and you can benefit from it without questioning every single element of it.
