Why? Couldn’t a client handle logging you into another client? Like I don’t have to type my password into Microsoft, they email me a code to type. Couldn’t the same be done on Nostr in dms?

That's a really good idea. You could even have a remote signing device that hooks into signal or some other messaging protocol that the client supports, to query it whenever you must sign an event.
But Amber doesn't work on iOS? Zapstore?
Nostr.build has this option in their login screen. They DM a code to an npub.
